July 2005

Live appearance on July 26 at Sail Inn in Tempe, Arizona. Unfortunately the venue is scheduled for demolition since the owner sold it for a pretty penny. However, the new facility on nearby Mill Avenue would be a great place for a repeat appearance. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Details will be posted as they arrive.

August 2005

Wrapping up final audio editing and package artwork for forthcoming CD, tentatively titled Program Not Responding. Also making preparations my first fully-sanctioned participation in the upcoming Different Skies space music event at Arcosanti, located here in Arizona. For directions and event information, please visit either of the two links provided above. Should be a great experience, as it was last year. For my fully-detailed artist bio and other related information, visit my Artist Page at AudioStreet online. Since it was infinitely easier to set up than this website has been, it has a lot more detail and info than I could ever provide here.

September 2005

Live appearance on September 17 at Arcosanti in northern Arizona for theThird Annual Different Skies Space Music festival. This is becoming a fast favorite around this area, and is my second appearance so far. It's a pretty sure bet that this will be a regular staple event for years to come. Made lasting friendships and lifetime memories that are indelibly stamped into my psyche now. Also, the event marked the unofficial debut of my new CD.

October 2005

Official release of new CD titled Program Not Responding, on October 1, 2005. For this project, I probed the inscrutable world of modern technology and computer-ish themes. Rather than condemn it, I sought to explore it and report back with my impressions in soundtrack form. My most polished work to date. For more information regarding CD purchases and related matters, please visit my Music page.

December 2005

Begin working on new source material for next release, as yet untitiled. The dormant urge to pay particular attention to guitar-based methods of expression has been too hard to resist. It seems like a concept worthy of further investigation, and so it shall be. I have toyed with smaller themes and ideas along those lines before, but I've never decided to explore them in a truly serious manner. I'll have an array of signal processing available via guitar, whether it be MIDI or advanced audio effects. So, my palette should be sizable enough to provide a diverse landscape suitable for a full-length CD.

January 2006

About mid-November, I was contacted unexpectedly by a Hindu chanting expert, Chandra Jade Shankar, who wanted to produce a deep ambient CD with accompanying chants and narration. He was referred to me through local sources, and we soon got together to discuss the possibilities. The focus of the project, at the suggestion of Jade himself, was to be the Hindu goddess Kali. I've now gathered all the necessary chanting audio, and must compose new material to reflect the subject matter. I see spooky, ethereal themes becoming dominant during the course of material development. More to come.

February 2006

More progress on the Kali-based collaboration between myself and Hindu chanter Jade Chandra Lee. As forecast, spooky stuff sets the mood strongly here. Many unusual sound sources are becoming bountiful ingredients in a nebulous sonic soup. Material should be ready for completion and mastering by mid-April.

March 2006

With the easy stuff already done, now I go about the arduous task of mixing and mastering this mammoth collection of chants and eerie soundworlds. Making good time and staying on schedule so far.

April 2006

Finally ready to release this beast. On April 1st, to be exact. This momentus occasion is coupled with a move in a more ambitious promotional direction: CD Baby. The new Hearts of Darkness CD is now available directly through their site, making credit card purchases a breeze. Next month I shall take time off from official UV duties. There is such a thing as over-saturation, and mixing a CD of one's material usually makes one very tired of one's own material. Much in the same way, I'm sure, that Pearl Jam might be tired of hearing Even Flow. The creative process, for me, typically goes in widely contrasting phases. Sometimes one of those phases involves a full disconnect from my most recent work. Need to rid myself of the loop-like repetition of familiar sounds I've subjected myself to. Good thing I have so many side interests!

May 2006

Still basking in the glow and goodwill following the release of Hearts of Darkness. Even got a write-up in Oprah magazine! Here are some other reviews and opinions, taken from my colleague's official website Hidden Moon. As mentioned before, I'm taking time off from myself, as it were. And spending an embarassing amount of time playing games on my XBox. Can't wait to get a copy of the new Splinter Cell when it comes out in September. I find typical squad-based military spy games to be annoying and cumbersome. Too many people to account for and direct. Too few games that feature compelling spycraft elements are single player these days, especially with the current renaissance in things military. The Splinter Cell series fills that void perfectly, making it a truly absorbing excursion each time I go back. Good thing I have all this time off!

June 2006

One of the many personal interests that I alluded to earlier includes participation in a local vintage progressive rock band, named Fracture. We cover material from such luminaries as Genesis, YES and King Crimson. We're doing a little bit of basking ourselves, in the wake of a handful of successful recent appearances at some local venues. This, after years of preparation and rehearsal. Glad to see that the collective enthusiasm hasn't waned during the course of our lengthy Quixotic quest.

Future Events:

September 2006

Live appearance Saturday September 17 at Arcosanti here in Arizona for the 4th annual Different Skies show, marking my third appearance so far. I'll be teaming up again with previous DS alumni and a number of new participants, 20 people in total. The setting is perfectly ideal for this style of music, and the vibes should be particularly awesome. Hopefully, the show will yield some real audio gems, which I plan to edit and include on a future live CD. Further details and information will be provided as they occur. For additional information regarding other Different Skies artists, visit the Different Skies site and discover the rich history of previous participants.
